Side Bending

Side Bending

Today began the process of side bending for the current projects. I do manual bending with a bending iron for all my guitars. Through some experimentation over the last few projects, I have found that using around 195 degrees C and occasional water spritzing on the pieces yields the best results. This process is slow and methodical as you heat, bend, and evaluate against the mold. These rosewood pieces do give off a wonderful aroma as they bend and don’t crack as easy as some materials I’ve worked with. Over the next few days i’ll finish the other pieces. In the meantime, and usually waiting for the iron to heat up, I’ve been working on getting some wheat pattern rosette material going. Hopefully, I’ll get a post up soon on that as well.
